Camsource is a modularized and multithreaded daemon for grabbing image frames from a video4linux device. It uses a simple yet powerful plugin system, which allows it to use the same grabbed images for multiple purposes at the same time. It features image filter plugins, which can be daisychained in the XML config file to modify the image before passing them to other plugins. Included plugins provide compatibility with camserv (multipart jpeg streams) and webcam_server, a local snapshot file writing module, and an FTP upload module, as well as basic image filtering (resizing, flipping, and rotating).

This project is to produce drivers for the
logitech quickam express that will run popular
linux software, such as video for linux.

Linux Video Surveillance (eLViS) provides a user interface for watching motion frames captured by the motion program as JPEG files. It has VCR-like controls, rewind, stop, play, and fast forward. It lets you view up to four motion threads (camera sources) and has a simple configuration panel.

KMencoder is a frontend for Mplayer/Mencoder.

camE is a Webcam grabber designed for video4linux
devices. It is based on the xawtv webcam app, but
extended to use imlib2 for applying antialised,
blended truetype fonts to the image before upload.
A large number of new options have been added
including scp support (in addition to ftp), image
archiving, and much more. It runs as a daemon and
needs no X connection to operate.

Kvdr lets you watch the output of VDR on a monitor
in X11.

The main part of av_convert is a C++ API for
accessing audio/video files (AVI, Quicktime,
YUV4MPEG stream, WAV, etc.). This functionality is
provided by a library and a set of plugin modules
for I/O backends and audio/video codecs. Using
this library, "av_convert" can convert between
these file formats and provide basic editing
functions, such as cutting parts of different
video sources to one destination. The included
program "av_rec" can record real-time video from a
v4l-video-source with A/V sync.

DigicaMerge is a commandline tool to merge directories of pictures taken with digital cameras. If you've got a digital camera, your hard disk probably contains many directories full of pictures all named with the same names. This utility allows you to merge such directories' contents into a new directory, and renames all the pictures on the fly, ensuring no filename clash will occur. You can define your own naming scheme, using either a set of predefined variables or any recognized Exif tag which may be present in your pictures, and also specify a pattern to select only certain files.

darktable is a virtual light table and darkroom for photographers. It manages your digital negatives in a database and lets you view them through a zoomable light table. It also enables you to develop raw images and enhance them.

The rfbproxy can be used for recording screen updates from a VNC server, or key/mouse events from a VNC viewer. Screen updates can be played back and viewed using vncviewer.

Gecko Multimedia System is a complete media solution,
able to play almost all media types and supporting
scheduled TV recording from online TV guides. It is
intended to replace your VCR, DVD, MP3, and CD player with one single software unit.

xvidcap is a screen capture application enabling
you to capture videos from your XFree86 desktop
for illustration or documentation purposes. It is
intended to be a standards-based alternative to
tools like Lotus ScreenCam.
